Publisher Description
QWOP is the local sporting hero of a prosperous country in the scandinavian alps. Unfortunately, it is too cold there for an outdoor track, and QWOP has come to the championships without completing his training!
You can help QWOP achieve his sporting dreams! You just need to show him how to run.
Control QWOP's legs and arms by moving your thumbs around in the diamonds on the screen. Move your thumbs in clockwise circles to make him run. Make QWOP lean forward and back by tilting your device.
And whatever you do, don't let QWOP's body touch the ground!
Features:
- Five game modes: 100m, Hurdles, Long Jump, Steeplechase, and 50km Walk!
- Hilarious physics engine.
- GameCenter leaderboards. Set a high score and challenge your friends.
Version History Updated for 64-bit, so you can continue to play on new versions of iOS.
This was a bit of an adventure, since I haven't released an iPhone app in 5 years. If you see any issues, let me know and I'll fix them up as soon as I can. 1.08 08/01/2017 Due to popular demand, I've turned this into a universal build for iPad, iPhone, iPhone 5. Retina support is added on iPhones.
I also fixed a really stupid bug that was multiplying everyone's scores in the 50km walk by 10. And another bug that was causing slowdown over long play sessions in some events.
But I probably introduced all kinds of new bugs! Let me know via email (support@foddy.net) or on twitter @bfod. 1.07 12/20/2012 To celebrate 200,000 copies sold (and also to mourn the impending shutdown of OpenFeint) I've removed OpenFeint and added GameCenter leaderboards.
I'm *really* sorry, this means your old high scores have to be deleted. This also means that this update is not available for iPhone 3G users. Please direct hatemail to support@foddy.net or to @bfod on twitter. Or, better yet, direct it at Gree, who bought and shut down OpenFeint.
If there's demand, I might add native iPad and retina resolution support. Send requests to me on twitter - @bfod
Oh, and finally: if you like this game and would like to play a 4-player version of it on your computer, I'm making one as a reward in our Sportsfriends Kickstarter! Visit sportsfriendsgame.com for details.
--Bennett 1.06 12/02/2012 -60fps is back for newer devices. Now everybody's happy! 1.05 01/07/2011 - Double-tap to restart replaced with a restart button, by popular request
- Big performance boost for older devices (iPhone, iPhone 3G, 1st gen iPod touch)
- Fixed some bugs relating to leaderboards 1.04 01/04/2011 Crash on startup for some iOS 3.1 users resolved. 1.03 12/23/2010 Long Jump, Steeplechase, Walk modes REALLY fixed this time.
A small subset of users has reported that they cannot get the app to launch. I am working on this, but since I'm unable to reproduce it myself it will be helpful if affected users could send their device version, iOS version and/or crash logs to support (at) foddy.net 1.02 12/21/2010 ***crash in Long jump, Steeplechase, Walk modes still unfixed.*** 1.01 12/21/2010 1.0 12/19/2010
